An explosion in Baxter has severely injured a 2020 Forest Lake graduate last Monday, May 20. 22-year-old Zavier Chevere of Stacy was working on installing new electric vehicle charging stations at a Holiday gas station when there was an explosion that caused burns over large portions of his body, according to a press release by the Baxter police department. Chevere was airlifted and, according to a GoFundMe account to help Chevere, survived his injuries.

The police and fire departments of Baxter determined a criminal investigation was not warranted.

According to the GoFundMe page, Chevere was enlisted with the army national guard. The GoFundMe has garnered $17,375 in donations so far.
