Once again, the largest park in St. Helens will be front and center during Citizens Day in the Park.

Try, if you will, to put down your smart phones and tablets and enjoy this annual event at McCormick Park, where you’ll meet friends and neighbors.

The 2024 edition kicks off 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, and is hosted by the city of St. Helens.

The city likes to say this event is focused on “making and strengthening community connections.”

Family friendly and free activities are offered each year during Citizens Day, enough to please all ages. Activities include live music, lawn games and vendors.

When hunger gets the better of you, drop on over to the free barbecue lunch, where, if you’re lucky, a city council member may serve you a hamburger or hot dog.

No Citizens Day is complete without a visit from the Highway 30 Cruisers, who feature their vintage automobiles.

Citizens Day in the Park is made possible by generous donations and the volunteer efforts of community members and businesses. Among the 2024 donors to this year’s event are Grocery Outlet, Hudson Garbage Service, Safeway, St. Helens Marina, Skinny’s Texaco and Sunshine Pizza.

If you would like to be a sponsor or donate for Citizens Day 2024, contact St. Helens City Councilor Jessica Chilton at jchilton@sthelensoregon.gov.

Visit the city website, www.sthelensoregon.gov , for more information.
