I hope everyone’s weekend has started off great, despite the heat and humidity from storms. The same conditions are expected for tomorrow with the potential for a more organized system of storms along with high temperatures. We also have some news surrounding the tropics. Let’s get into it!

Local Forecast for Southern MS/AL/LA – 6/29/24: Heat advisories and warnings in effect, along with more scattered storms.

If you are sick of the heat, I have some good news. A cold front to the north of us is expected to move and stall in our region for the next day or two. This will bring some relief from the heat, with high temperatures expected to hover around the low 90s, which is much closer to our average for this time of year. Looking at our rain chances, most of the area should expect scattered showers and thunderstorms, as the center of low above us will allow for rain chances to be possible over the next couple of days. Looking at the tropics, there are currently two areas of disturbances in the Atlantic Ocean Basin. We will be keeping an eye on these potential systems.

Forecast for Southern MS/AL/LA for 6/27/24: Some relief from the heat but more chances of rain

It was a nice couple days of heat indices “only” in the upper 90s to low 100s, but we return to Advisory-level heat on Sunday as air temperatures in the mid-90s combine with dewpoints in the mid-to-upper 70s to yield heat indices 108-110°. Once again, you’ll want to be sure your outdoor activities involve frequent breaks in the shade with plenty of water.

After a tropical rainstorm brought heavy rainfall to portions of Florida last week, AccuWeather hurricane experts warn that yet another tropical rainstorm is expected to impact the southern U.S. in the coming days.

Hello there. I hope that your Saturday is going well. We have quite a lot of new news regarding the tropics. As of yesterday evening, we officially have our second named storm of the season, Tropical Storm Beryl. Beryl is expected to move west and impact the Windward islands by the end of the weekend. These islands are expected to see major hurricane conditions, with destructive winds, heavy rains, and significant storm surge. Hurricane conditions are expected from Sunday night through Monday morning. After moving through the Windward Islands, Byerl is expected to continue in a north/northwest direction towards the Yucatan Peninsula. As of this writing, it is too far out to produce proper reports of the impacts this storm could have on North America, but possible impacts could occur. Besides Beryl, the other two systems in the Atlantic could develop, as environmental conditions have been more favorable in the last 48 hours.

Early this morning, a weather system is moving over the Gulf Coast while a high-pressure system is centered over central to southwestern Texas. High moisture levels are present, which will persist through the afternoon. Satellite loops show hardly any clouds in the Northeast and Middle Atlantic states. We have another dry day of weather with lots of sunshine. Winds will be onshore and that will keep temperatures along coastal areas from New Jersey to Long Island and Southern New England in the 70s (60s at the beaches). Inland highs should be able to reach the low and middle 80s. There is nothing on the radar to worry about today or tonight.

Some good weather for baseball this week as we look at some warming come in later this weekend for our afternoon games. Plenty to talk about so let’s get started!. Tonight the Yankees face the Blue Jays again in Toronto at 7:07pm EDT. Temperatures will be in the high to mid 60s. Humidity will be around 60% for the first few innings and the increase up to 70% in the final innings. There will be slight cloud coverage for the first half of the game and will increase as the night continues. For spectators there will be a light breeze near field level which will make the evening feel nice and cool. At 150ft winds will be around 15mph infield which will make getting a ball over the wall a bit harder especially if hitting towards right field. It will be a really nice night for baseball!
