Geric Kramarczyk of Maricopa was among the more than 7,650 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa named to the dean’s list for the 2024 spring semester.

Kramarczyk, a 2021 graduate of Maricopa High School, is a third-year student in Iowa’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, majoring in anthropology. He minors in the German language.

He was an officer with JROTC at MHS, which led him into the Army National Guard. With his language skills, he said he hopes to one day be based in Germany or another European country.

“Once I graduate, I’ll be a commissioned officer and go into the Army,” he said today from home in Rancho El Dorado.

As an anthropology student, Kramarczyk was a volunteer for an archaeological dig that uncovered the oldest American settlement in Wisconsin, according to the Telegraph Herald . He said he spent three weeks in the summer of 2019 working at the dig site and hopes to experience other such opportunities as an anthropologist.

His dean’s list status was earned by 1,063 first-year undergraduates during the 2024 spring semester at Iowa, 1,752 second-year students, 2,041 third-year students and 2,807 fourth-year students. That’s among 33,334 total students.
