Here’s The Advice Recent Divorcée Tia Mowry Shared With Rachel Lindsay

On Tuesday, June 18, E! News published an exclusive interview with Lindsay. During her chat with the outlet, she opened up about the advice she received from Mowry. As The Shade Room previously reported, Mowry filed for divorce from her ex-husband, Cory Hardrict, in October 2022. Additionally, their divorce was finalized In June 2023.

E! News notes that Mowry and Hardrict had been married for 14 years.

“She said, ‘Don’t look at the past, it will hold you back. Don’t look at the future, it’ll give you anxiety. Every day, stay in the present because every day you make it through and you get stronger,'” Rachel explained.

Additionally, the lawyer shared that she reminds herself of Mowry’s advice “every single day.”

“In the moment she was speaking to me, I was having so much anxiety of trying to control the future,” she said.

Lindsay explained that her “biggest fear is loss of control,” and although she feels “that’s the space” she’s currently in, she said that Mowry’s advice was “freeing.”

“I am a Taurus, I am an enneagram eight, and my biggest fear is loss of control, and that’s the space that I’m in now,” she shared. “And so when she said that to me, it was like a burden had lifted off. It was very freeing.”

The ‘Bachelorette Star Shares What She’s Now Focused On

After receiving Mowry’s advice, Lindsay explained that she now doesn’t “worry about the things” she “can’t control.” Instead, she’s focusing on “spending time” with herself.

“I know people see me out and about, and that is true,” she said. I don’t want to mask what I’m feeling by going out. Yes, hanging out with friends is healing. Yes, traveling is healing, but it’s superficial. I really want to do the work from within.”

Lindsay explained that she’s now doing activities “to heal” herself from “within.” Once she does that, then she believes she’ll be “better on the outside.”

“So that’s meditation, that’s prayer, that’s exercise, that’s stepping outside and just being one with nature, that’s spending more time with family and friends… As I’m stepping into the summer, maybe we’re dabbling in a little bit of hot girl summer, maybe not. I step my toe in. We’ll see what happens,” she said.

Additionally, Lindsay said that she’s unapologetically putting herself first.

“I’ve taken the time to really self-reflect and figure out what I need moving forward, what’s good for me,” she shared. “Yeah, that sounds a little selfish but also very necessary. And I think that’s a part of self-care…”

Rachel Lindsay Recently Detailed A Choice She Regretted In Her Former Marriage

Lindsay is moving forward by putting herself first. However, that wasn’t always a decision she made in her former union with Abasolo. As The Shade Room previously reported, earlier this month, Lindsay revealed that she initially wanted a prenuptial agreement with Abasolo before they tied the knot.

However, she went against her initial judgment.

“The reason I didn’t [get a prenup] is because the place I’m in now financially… is totally different than when I got married. We were more level, and I wasn’t living in California,” she explained while appearing on the ‘ Hidden Gems With Natasha Parker ‘ podcast. “We weren’t on the same page with prenups, and I didn’t want it to be a bigger issue. So we didn’t have one.”

Ultimately, Lindsay explained that “hindsight is 20/20.”

“I would have done it [now],” she said before later adding. “Everybody should have a prenup. I could have never predicted that in 2024 that I would be getting a divorce. You just never know what life is gonna throw at you or what’s going to happen.”

As The Shade Room previously reported, Lindsay met Abasolo on season 13 of ‘The Bachelorette.’ The pair walked down the aisle in 2019. However, in January 2024, Abasolo filed for divorce while requesting spousal support from Lindsay.

In May, Abasolo doubled down on his request by asking a judge to grant him emergency spousal support from Lindsay, per The Shade Room . Abasolo reportedly wanted his estranged wife to cover $75,000 of his legal fees.

Additionally, Abasolo also reportedly noted that he wanted Lindsay’s financial assistance so he could move out of their shared Los Angeles home.

“Rachel and I are cohabiting in our Family Residence, but neither of us wants to continue to live together. Our current living situation is very awkward and strained. I want to move out of our Family Residence as soon as possible, but maintaining our standard of living is not financially feasible at this time,” Abasolo’s May filing noted, per PEOPLE .

Lindsay responded to Abasolo’s emergency spousal request later that month.
