Ejected Driver in I-85 Crash: Charges Pending

A North Georgia man is facing charges after crashing his car on Interstate 85 in Franklin County Tuesday night, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The wreck happened around 8:34 p.m. on June 18 near mile marker 160, southwest of Carnesville.

The State Patrol's initial investigation determined Larry Andrew Evans, 32, of Buford, was driving southbound in a Honda Civic when he failed to maintain his lane. The car ran off the east shoulder of the road. Troopers say Evans overcorrected. The car spun out and overturned multiple times.

Evans was ejected from the car. Franklin County EMS transported him by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with serious injuries, says GSP.

Troopers say driver impairment may have been a contributing factor in the crash. They say Evans will be charged with various traffic charges, including driving under the influence.

Law enforcement closed both southbound lanes of the interstate for approximately 40 minutes to complete the crash investigation and clear the roadway.
