One dead, two injured in triple shooting on Bagnall Road: Norfolk Police

One person dead, two more in the hospital after a shooting on Bagnall Road Thursday, according to a post Norfolk police made on X.

Officers say the call came in around 4:45 p.m. According to Police Chief Mark Talbot, officers were only a block away investigating Wednesday's shooting when shots rang out.

"Officers were a block away," said Talbot. "They heard somewhere around 10 shots."

On Wednesday, police responded to a shooting only a block away where one woman was injured. Police say that the incident started as an argument between two men, and the victim was an "innocent bystander."

As to why officers were already in the area, Talbot said it was due to yesterday's events.

"[Yesterday's shooting] has everything to do with why officers were in the area unfortunately," he said

"This is one of the neighborhoods where we are struggling to make it safer," Talbot added. "This is another tragic incident that we're hoping to continue to reduce."

Talbot said officers will be in the area for an extended period time, both proactively patrolling and doing investigations.
