Once again, ESPN has big shoes to fill. After Doc Rivers left for the Milwaukee Bucks head coaching job, JJ Redick took over. Now, Redick has become the new head coach for the Los Angeles Lakers, leaving an opening in the booth alongside Mike Breen and Doris Burke.

Who will it be? It remains to be seen who ESPN tabs as the replacement for JJ Redick. However, after the news came out on Thursday, NBA fans appeared to have a standard pick: Richard Jefferson.

Jefferson works for ESPN, so it would be an easy promotion for the former NBA player.

"Give Richard Jefferson the commentary spots Redick had."

"Richard Jefferson is probably about to become a member of ESPN’s top NBA broadcast team, which means Richard Jefferson is probably also about to become an NBA head coach."

"Always liked Richard Jefferson! I hope so!"

    "Get Richard Jefferson the job"

"Feels like Richard Jefferson’s job to lose." -- Anton said on X .

"Is... is Richard Jefferson gonna call the Finals next year?"

"Richard Jefferson about to fill that role"

Jefferson has done a great job as an analyst, so making the transition alongside Breen and Burke makes a lot of sense. Jamal Crawford is another candidate to consider, as is a two-person booth with Burke and Breen running the show.

Only time will tell, but NBA fans are excited about Richard Jefferson potentially claiming that gig.
