Interstate 64 reopens, police ID woman who jumped from bridge

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Police identified the woman who fatally jumped from the Parham Road bridge over Interstate 64 in Henrico County on Monday morning. Her next of kin was also notified of their loved one's death. Police did not release her name to the public.

"Henrico Communications received multiple calls from citizens concerned about an adult female standing on the Parham Road Bridge overlooking I-64," a Henrico Police spokesperson said. "Shortly after receiving the Calls, Henrico Police arrived and attempted dialogue with the female subject.  The female jumped off the bridge into oncoming traffic."

The situation happened at about 6:33 a.m. Lanes of Interstate 64 East and the interstate ramp from Parham Road to Interstate 64 East were closed during the morning rush hour as police investigated the situation. The lanes and ramp have since reopened.
