CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield County Police have charged a driver in connection to a crash that killed a wife and mother who was on a run at the intersection of Lucks Lane and Spirea Road on Friday, April 26.

According to police, around 8:19 a.m. on April 26, a 2019 Volkswagen car was traveling west on Lucks Lane when it hit a 2012 Toyota car that was making a left turn on Spirea Lane.

The Volkswagen was driven by 30-year-old Quincy D. Ware, who veered off to the right side of the road and hit a pedestrian who was running on the sidewalk.

The pedestrian was identified as 31-year-old Katherine D. Anderson, a wife and mother of two children, who was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said Anderson later died at the hospital.

After the investigation, officers acquired warrants for Ware, for involuntary manslaughter and reckless driving in relation to the crash.

Ware was taken into custody on Friday, June 21 without incident and released on bond.

The investigation determined that speed was a factor in the crash.

The Chesterfield County Police Department continues to investigate the crash. If anyone has any information, contact police at 804-748-1251.
