Vice President Kamala Harris slammed former President Donald Trump over his "insulting" remarks about his "Black friends" and Black voters.

During an interview on MSNBC's Morning Joe , Harris fielded questions about Trump suggesting that he's not racist because he has "many Black friends."

The vice president was also asked about Trump saying that his indictments and convictions make him more appealing to Black voters.

“It’s insulting for a number of reasons, including he has reduced the whole population of people down to a sum total of what is, in his mind, who they are,” Harris said during the interview. “And he’s wrong. And he’s wrong.”

Harris' comments come after the former president said he's more appealing to Black voters since being "discriminated against" by the legal system.

“I got indicted for nothing, for something that is nothing,” Trump said earlier this year. “And a lot of people said that’s why the Black people like me, because they have been hurt so badly and discriminated against, and they actually viewed me as I’m being discriminated against.”

In a recent interview with Semafor , Trump also shut down claims that he's racist.

“I have so many Black friends, that if I were a racist, they wouldn’t be friends; they would know better than anybody, and fast,” the former president said. “They would not be with me for two minutes if they thought I was racist — and I’m not racist!”

Trump and President Joe Biden are set to face off in a debate on Thursday (June 27).
