Chair Elizabeth Williams called the June 27, 2024 Bulloch County Board of Education work session to order at 6:30pm, and the pledge of allegiance was led by Representative Lehman Franklin. The agenda was adopted as it was presented. Board member Donna Clifton was not present.

This coming holiday weekend, AAA plans to offer its Tow to Go free ride program to drivers in Georgia. Tow to Go operates on most major holidays and offers a free ride to impaired drivers and their vehicles who do not have a safe alternative.

From 6pm on Wednesday, July 3 to 6am on Monday, July 8, impaired drivers can call (855) 2-TOW-2-GO or (855) 286-9246 for a ride. The free confidential rides are available to AAA Members and non-members.

What to know about Tow to Go:


	The AAA tow truck transports the vehicle and driver home or somewhere safe within 10 miles.
	Appointments cannot be scheduled in advance...

The SBC has removed another church from it's fellowship. First Baptist Church of Alexandria, Virginia, is the latest casualty in the Southern Baptist Convention's war on churches that accept women pastors. The Independent reports that on Tuesday, delegates attending the SBC annual meeting voted 6,759 to 563 to oust the congregation.

Western State Hospital nurse Bakari Shaban Gakere of Pierce County has been charged with striking a patient, the Washington Department of Health reports. In May, the Board of Nursing charged licensed practical nurse Gakere with unprofessional conduct, according to the DOH.

About 80 people overtook Aurora’s City Council meeting Monday, causing the mayor to recess the meeting three times in an effort to bring about order. The council then agreed to extend public invited to be heard beyond the one-hour time limit. The speakers showed up to chide the City Council for not punishing the officer that shot and killed Kilyn Lewis. Lewis was a suspect in a crime which is why police approached him. Body camera footage released by the Aurora Police Department showed Lewis did not have a gun and repeatedly yelled “I don’t have nothing!” with his hands in the air. Despite this, officer Michael Dieck killed him with a single shot from his rifle. Lewis never had more than a cell phone in his hand, the video showed.
