CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A man with active warrants was arrested Tuesday morning after he led Carter County deputies on a pursuit and then stole a pickup truck amid the chase, the Tennessee Highway Patrol reports.

According to a crash report from the THP, Robert Ray, 32, refused to stop for the Carter County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) while driving a stolen Ford Taurus on Highway 91.

Ray reportedly crashed the Taurus in a parking lot at 440 Highway 91 during the pursuit, then stole a Dodge Ram pickup truck and continued toward Cross Mountain Road, the report said.

CCSO deputies then executed a pit maneuver, disabling the truck, and Ray attempted to flee on foot. Deputies then took Ray into custody, according to the report.

The CCSO is handling the charges for Ray, according to the THP, and News Channel 11 has reached out to the sheriff’s office for details on those charges.
