The Indiana Fever announced a major roster change on June 25. The Fever abruptly cut guard Celeste Taylor in order to make room for center Damiris Dantas.

Taylor, the Fever's No. 15 overall pick from the 2024 WNBA draft, was released just five days after Caitlin Clark led the team's celebration for her 23rd birthday at practice.

However, that's not what made fans so angry and sad over her exit.

Just hours prior, Fever head coach Christie Sides was incredibly vague on Dantas' return. "Still working on that," she told reporters.

Fans were also incredibly upset because Taylor barely got to play before she was cut.

Taylor barely registered stats this season. Her most impactful game came against the Connecticut Sun on June 10, during which she scored three points with one block in seven minute

One person posted on X, can’t believe Sides was just saying today that she’s been thinking about nothing but defense the past 48 hours and now they waive Celeste without giving her a shot?"

Another fan commented ,"How do u not play and then waive a good defender for a team that needs defense??"
