New developments and businesses keep popping up in Oldham County, including an addition to a popular bridal boutique, a new library, and more.

Here are three new businesses in Goshen and La Grange to put on your radar.

    Couture Closet Bridal Boutique

    123 E Main St, La Grange, Hours: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Closed Sunday and Monday, coutureclosetboutique.com

Couture Closet Bridal Boutique has been open for 17 years and in January, the team added a new feature: a bespoke bridal bar.

The bespoke bar can be used to further customize a bride's dress with separate pieces and additives such as buttons, custom necklines, and bows. Brides can create their own designs with tops and bottoms of dresses, skirts, bodices, etc.

"We love challenging ourselves to always outdo our customer service," Lauren Montgomery, co-owner, said of the new space.

These bridal bar materials are supplied by Lis Simon, a designer bridal brand that has a line of "separates:" mix-and-match tops and skirts that a bride can choose to put together to design their perfect wedding dress.

"I think it's a really good way for a bride to show their personality in their dress," Montgomery told the Courier Journal. "They have the hands-on option to make it unique."

    Dollar General

    2219 KY-53, La Grange, dollargeneral.com, Hours: daily, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The newest Dollar General in Oldham County has been welcoming customers for almost a year, according to Jim Urban, director of Oldham County Planning and Development. This is the second Dollar General in La Grange, with the other located at 1200 Cherrywood Place.

    Goshen Library

3000 Paramont Commons, intersection of KY-1793 and US Hwy 42, Goshen, oldhampl.org

The Goshen Library, a 17,000-square-foot space located on a single level, is set to open in spring 2025, according to library director Julie Wilson. The new branch will be part of the larger Oldham County Public Library.

"We have found there is a real need in our community for shared spaces. People need a place to connect ... especially after the isolation that so many experienced at the height of the pandemic. What better way to connect with others than through content: books, films, art, information and common activities?" said Wilson. "The Goshen Library will offer traditional and non-traditional library materials, but it will also provide a community space that is so critical in our digital age."

Here's what to expect at the new location:

    • Drive-thru services for returns and pick-up
    • Covered reading porch, accessible after-hours as well
    • Large children’s area, including an activity room just for kids
    • Devoted teen area with gaming area and recording booth for podcasts and other projects
    • Community/meeting rooms of various sizes: large meeting room space for 100-150 people, flexible office space for patrons who work remotely, study rooms, small gathering room with cozy seating and fireplace for groups sized two to 10

"Libraries are one of the few places in the community where there is no expectation to spend money while you’re there. People can come to the library to check out books, but they can also meet a friend for a cup of tea, read the paper, bring their kids to story time, see a puppet show, learn Lego Robotics ... use the Wi-fi in an air-conditioned space, or find a quiet moment away from household chores that beckon when you work at home," Wilson said. "When you use the library, you can save a ton of money on books, but you can also build friendships and community. We see people doing that every day."
