Man allegedly steals over $1,000 worth of diesel gas

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man has been charged after police say he stole over $1,000 worth of diesel gas.

According to Pennsylvania State Police Troop N Hazleton, in April of 2023, troopers identified a suspect for diesel gas theft as 44-year-old Yuneil Hernandez-Carrera from Flordia.

Troopers say Hernandez-Carrera used a device containing a magnetic strip with stoled credit information in which he used to purchase 242 gallons of diesel gas valued at $1,043.02.

Court documents state he put diesel fuel into unknown containers and then fled the parking lot.

Hernandez-Carrera allegedly was involved in three additional crimes involving thefts in Pennsylvania, officials note.

Police have charged Hernandez-Carrera with retail theft and other related charges.
