    Fmr. Eaton County corrections officer facing child sex crime charges

    LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan State Police have arrested a now former Eaton County corrections officer on multiple charges including aggravated child sexual abusive activity and aggravated child sexual abusive material possession.

    Police arrested Ethan Eversman, 24, of Ionia, after a tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). During the initial investigation, police say they were able to secure “digital evidence” from Eversman during an interview and a later search of his home.

    Eversman now faces the following charges:

    • Four counts of aggravated child sexual abusive activity (distributing or promoting)
    • Three charges of aggravated child sexual abuse material possession
    • Seven charges of use of a computer to commit a crime punishable by 10-20 years

    Eaton County confirmed they fired Eversman after his arrest. He was arraigned in the 64A
    District Court on June 25 and is being held in the Ionia County jail.
