CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) — A Virginia-based bank looking to recover more than $300 million in defaulted business loans from the family of Gov. Jim Justice has reached a settlement with the family, according to a press release.

Carter Bank & Trust prepared to auction off pieces of the Greenbrier Sporting Club, a private equity club and residential community that opened in 2000. The family then sued the bank.

With the settlement—which was agreed upon on June 25—that sale won’t happen and the loans will be paid off as a part of a mutual agreement between the Justice family and the bank. Specific terms of the settlement will remain confidential, the release said.

James (Jay) C. Justice said that he and his family are glad to have reached an agreement “that puts these matters behind us,” and that the Justice family is committed to “satisfying our outstanding obligations” to Carter Bank.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
