    Firefighters rescue person pinned underneath SUV in Cabarrus County crash

    CONCORD, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Firefighters rescued a motorist from being pinned underneath their overturned vehicle in southern Cabarrus County Thursday.

    According to the Allen Volunteer Fire Department, crews responded to a two-vehicle accident at 11:55 a.m. to the intersection of Miami Church Road and Cold Springs Road South. It involved a Chevrolet pickup truck and GMC SUV.

    Allen firefighters were assisted by Mt. Pleasant, Cabarrus County and Concord fire departments. Crews utilized Paratech brand gold struts to stabilize the overturned GMC, with a grip hoist and cable to lift the vehicle off of the injured patient.

    The patient was freed in 17 minutes from the arrival of the first unit and transported to Allen Fire Dept. by Cabarrus County EMS, where care was transferred to MedCenter Air.
