The return of morning school routines, however, could be farther off than they think. One local school district is opening its doors later than last school year.

Which Coachella Valley school districts start later this year?

This year, the only local school district that will be starting later is Desert Sands Unified School District. That means families have more time to enjoy summer and don't need to start preparing their back-to-school supplies just yet.

How many days are kids in school in California?

According to Education Code Section 46200, districts that offer less than 180 days of instruction are noncompliant with California Education Code. The requirement for charter schools 175 days.
