ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Office of Statewide Pretrial Services unveiled new data regarding investigations in Illinois.

It has been nine months since Illinois did away with bond and implemented the Pre-Trial Fairness Act. An act that is meant to not keep people in jail for minor offenses.

With the new interactive dashboard that has been made available by the Office of Statewide Pretrial Services, Illinois citizens can now look into the data for themselves involving investigations.

Right now, the 17th district court, which includes Winnebago and Boone County is not part of the data in the dashboard. However, the 15th district, which includes Ogle, Lee and Stephenson counties is included.

Since September 2023, there have been 182 investigations. That is the second lowest in the state by circuit. Half of those investigations were for felonies and the other half were misdemeanors.

To break that down more, 110 of those investigations had a detainable offense, 84 petitions were filed and 40 of the 84 were granted. Seven of those hearings have not been completed yet.

This means 48% of people were detained and 44% were released.
