Cardinals OC sings Kyler Murray's praises after what he's seen in the offseason

The summer of love was in 1967. Now, in 2024, it is the summer of Kyler Murray.

The Arizona Cardinals' starting quarterback has garnered immense praise for how he has worked out throughout the summer . His play and his continued improvement have gotten the attention of the Cardinals' offensive coordinator Drew Petzing.

"He's the type of guy that gets better every day," Petzing said of Murray, via NFL.com . "Sometimes it's physically. Sometimes it's mentally. Sometimes it's a leadership perspective. But when you take the job and the sport as seriously as he does, I think you're always going to see that growth. I think it's something where he's always looking to be a better player, be a better teammate, be a better leader. So the more opportunities he gets to do it, the more he learns from it just like we do as coaches. I think you saw that throughout the spring."

The Cardinals offense was anemic during the 2023 season. It averaged 105.3 receiving yards per game last season, which ranked third-fewest in the league. Heading into the offseason, Arizona made an effort to change that.

Through the draft, Arizona added Marvin Harrison Jr. Also in the receiving unit is Michael Wilson, Greg Dortch, veteran newcomers Zay Jones and Chris Moore, and tight end Trey McBride.

All will play a factor in the Cardinals' offense looking and feeling different during the 2024 season.

That isn't to say Arizona will be an elite football team. Odds are it won't be. But the Cardinals do have the talent to at least make things interesting.
