The teenage son of an NFL star vanished earlier this month shortly after being pictured bearing a swollen lip and a damaged eye.

Police issued an urgent silver alert on Friday for Bryson Muir, the 14-year-old son of former Colts player Daniel Muir, who has been missing since June 16 and is thought to be in danger. The teenager was last spotted leaving his grandmother's home with his parents more over two weeks ago.

Police pulled over his parent's car a few minutes after he left the house, but he was gone. When his parents were unable to locate him by Friday at noon, they apparently stopped cooperating with the police in regards to his disappearance .

When Cheryl Wright's daughter asked her to bring up her grandson earlier in June, she saw terrible bruises all over his face, according to the grandmother. "He just said that his dad did it, but he wasn't angry, but he wasn't angry at his father. He told me that he deserved it and it was OK," Wright told WTHR.

"So I told him that it wasn't and that nobody should beat their children like that, not if they love them." After Wright drove Bryson back to her residence in Cleveland, he was allegedly picked up on June 16 by his parents, brother, and an unidentified adult male a few days later.

Wright, however, is said to have contacted the police before Bryson's parents could come get him. Police stopped the van that Bryson was picked up in a few minutes after he was taken from Wright's Ohio house.

However, Bryson had vanished from sight. When asked about what happened to Bryson, Wright stated, "The only thing that the police officers told me is that they probably put him into another vehicle and drove off," according to the site.

"He is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance," Indiana State Police stated in a Friday statement. Since the Silver Alert was issued, there have been no updates on Bryson's location; nevertheless, authorities have stated that his parents are no longer assisting with the investigation.

Daniel and Kristin Muir, Bryson's parents, had consented to have their son meet with investigators on Friday at 12 p.m. Police said the Muirs withdrew from the agreement an hour prior to the scheduled meeting.

Prior to the scheduled meeting, the police were unable to contact Bryson's parents, which led to rumors that the "cult-like" church of which they are members may have been involved.

The Servant Leader's Foundation is the owner of the land where the Muir family resides as well as the vehicle used to transport Bryson from his grandmother's house, according to police.
