The Diamondbacks have selected Cissell with the 132nd overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft. Cissell is a 6-foot-2 switch-hitting prep shortstop, but he shows a much more comfortable swing from the left side at this stage of his development. He already exhibits solid bat speed and still has the ability to add more strength to his frame, offering hope that he could emerge as an above-average power hitter down the road. Caratini has been shelved since late June with a left hip flexor strain but has been cleared for rehab games. The veteran catcher shouldn't need too many rehab at-bats before being activated, with a return early on in the second half likely.

The Cubs sent Tauchman (groin) to their Arizona Complex League affiliate Monday to begin a rehab assignment. Tauchman is coming up on the one-month mark of his ongoing absence from a left groin strain but has been cleared to play in rehab games. The 33-year-old might not quite be ready to rejoin the Cubs at the start of the second half, but it shouldn't be too much longer than that, assuming all goes well. Once activated, Tauchman should return to seeing regular starts against right-handed pitching.
