Zac Efron fans horrified by actor's appearance in Netflix movie - 'what happened to your face?'

Zac Efron's latest flick hit Netflix on Friday, and while many tuned in for his performance, it was his appearance that sparked chatter among fans .

The 36-year-old actor took to Instagram to post a sneak peek of A Family Affair, where he appears alongside Nicole Kidman. In the shared video, Zac Efron captures Joey King, 24, performing a scene where her character chokes on a grape and loses consciousness.

As Zac and Nicole observed from behind the scenes, he turned the camera to capture their reactions, showing them in fits of laughter before he commended Joey for her stellar acting.

However, it was Zac's visage in the footage that caused a stir on social media, prompting comments from concerned fans. One follower bluntly asked: "WTF ! ! ! ! What happened to your face Zac," while another suggested: "Plastic surgery and aging .. oh but smoking probably. They can't fool us."

Some fans were quick to defend the star, bringing up his past surgery following a severe fall some years back, reports the Mirror US .

Zac has been open about this surgery, especially after previous speculation about his looks. In a candid chat with Men's Health for their October 2022 issue, he recounted how he broke his jaw after slipping while running in socks at home, hitting a fountain, and blacking out.

He described how his "chin bone" was left dangling from his face. During his recovery, Zac noticed his facial muscles had bulked up significantly, leading him to work with a physical therapist to address the issue.

He went on to say: "The masseters just grew. They just got really, really big."

The masseter muscle, located in the face and jaw, is one of the main muscles involved in chewing.

Despite the swirling rumours, Zac has maintained that he's not troubled by the gossip - and it seems his stance remains unchanged.
