The Chicago Bears opened Tuesday with its top-two draft picks still unsigned. That is no longer the case, as quarterback Caleb Williams and wideout Rome Odunze put pen to paper on the day the Bears' rookies arrived for the start of training camp. Williams is signing a four-year, fully guaranteed contract worth $39 million, according to CBS Sports lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones. It includes a $25.5 million signing bonus, per ESPN.

O'Brien penned a one-year contract with AHL Charlotte on Thursday, Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal reports. O'Brien was the 19th overall pick in 2018 by the Flyers, but never signed after playing three seasons at Boston University. He signed a minor-league deal last season with AHL Toronto, but was unable to play due to injury. He will try and make his professional debut this season with the Checkers.

The Chargers placed Young (neck) on the active/PUP list Thursday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Young has said he intends to be ready for the start of training camp, but for now it appears that he's still working through the recovery process following his offseason neck surgery. He can come off the PUP list at any point during training camp or the preseason, once cleared to practice, and there are still just over three weeks until New Orleans' preseason opener at Arizona. The 2020 first-round pick could emerge as a key part of the Saints' pass-rush corps for the 2024 season, health permitting.

The Twins activated Weiss (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday and outrighted him to Triple-A St. Paul, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Weiss has been out all season with a teres major strain in his right shoulder. He's healthy now, after having allowed six runs with an 8:3 K:BB over eight innings during his rehab assignment, which included stops at three affiliates. The Twins didn't have room on Weiss from the 40-man roster, but he'll remain in the organization as bullpen depth at St. Paul.

The Padres selected Ornelas' contract and optioned him to Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday. Ornelas has spent the entire 2024 season at El Paso, slashing .316/.390/.515 with 12 home runs and five stolen bases across 310 plate appearances. Though he'll remain with El Paso coming out of the All-Star break, the 24-year-old outfielder is now a part of the Padres' 40-man roster. The transaction should improve his chances of receiving his first big-league call-up at some point later this season.

The Royals re-signed Cox to a minor-league contract Tuesday. Cox opted out of his minor-league contract with Kansas City last week but has ultimately returned on a re-worked deal. The left-handed reliever holds a 4.03 ERA and 29:17 K:BB in 29 innings with Triple-A Omaha this season.

The Grizzlies traded Williams (back/hip) and a 2030 second-round pick to the Mavericks in exchange for Mamadi Diakite on Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Williams made 51 appearances, including 15 starts, for the Grizzlies in 2023-24 before missing the remainder of the season with a right lower back injury and a hip flexor strain. Before going down to injury, the 22-year-old forward averaged 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 20.4 minutes. However, efficiency was an issue, as he shot just 39.7 percent from the field and 30.7 percent from three. If Williams is able to enter the 2024-25 campaign healthy, he will likely compete for depth minutes in Dallas' forward rotation.

The Royals recalled Waters from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday. With MJ Melendez (ankle) landing on the injured list Tuesday, Waters will return to Kansas City to give the Royals additional outfield depth coming out of the All-Star break. The 25-year-old went 1-for-8 during his first MLB stint in June, and he's slashed .277/.362/.502 with 44 RBI across 287 plate appearances with Omaha.

The Jazz acquired the rights to Koprivica from the Clippers as part of Thursday's Russell Westbrook-Kris Dunn swap, Ben Anderson of KSL News Salt Lake City reports. Koprivica was drafted with the 57th overall selection in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Pistons, and then his draft rights were later traded to the Clippers in 2023, so this is the third time he's been traded despite never playing in the league. It seems unlikely that he'll be leaving his team in Serbia any time soon.
