Rossville state champion wrestler Noah Weaver commits to Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE — Keeping a quiet profile and staying modest about accomplishments is the way incoming senior Rossville wrestler Noah Weaver was raised.

And while Weaver maintains his unassuming posture, the captain put Hornets' wrestling on the map in 2024.

Weaver took his talent to unprecedented heights, going 50-0 last season which culminated in capturing the 190-pound IHSAA State Championship. Weaver became the first Rossville wrestler to win a state wrestling championship for a school that opened in 1896.

The accomplishments by Weaver turned him into a Division I prospect overnight.

Weaver announced his commitment to Purdue through his Instagram page on Sunday.

While Weaver is attending Purdue to wrestle, he is equally excited about pursuing a degree that will put his skills as a coder and technician to the test. In addition to wrestling, Weaver builds computers as a hobby.

"It's absolutely wonderful to have such an amazing university like Purdue with its computer science program which I looked into," Weaver said. "It's top 20 in the United States and competes with Ivy League schools. With the wrestling program having success over the last couple of years, I'm excited to be a part of that."

Weaver follows in the footsteps of his father and coach Matt Weaver who wrestled for the Boilermakers in 1999.

He is expected to join local product Ethan Popp of Harrison, a 170-pound wrestler who committed and signed with Purdue after winning multiple sectional titles during his career.
