    Over 7,000 pounds of illegal fireworks busted in San Joaquin County

    (FOX40.COM) — A six-week operation to remove illegal fireworks from the area ended with thousands of pounds of explosives and other dangerous devices seized before the Fourth of July, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

    On July 1, the sheriff’s office announced the mission resulted in the seizure of 7,448 lbs. of “dangerous fireworks,” 129 lbs. of “explosive precursor powders,” and145 destructive devices.

    In addition, deputies said 13 arrests were made, 31 investigations initiated, 29 charges forwarded to the district attorneys office, seven firearms confiscated, four citations issued, three search warrants executed, two suppressors found, and an explosives lab was dismantled.

    “Remember, all fireworks, even those with the Safe and Sane seal, are illegal in the unincorporated areas of San Joaquin County,” SJCSO said . “Check local regulations before purchasing any fireworks.”
