The NFL suddenly finds itself on the wrong side of an anti-trust lawsuit involving pricing for their NFL Sunday Ticket package. According to Pro Football Talk , the verdict entered is for a settlement of $4.096 billion. This number is massive in a professional sports league with huge salaries and franchise values.

Obviously, the league plans to appeal the verdict but if it stands, each team is going to be on the hook for an enormous payout to make things right.

PFT estimates the amount per team to be somewhere between $384 and $450 million to be paid out to settle the lawsuit.

For years, the NFL has been under heavy scrutiny over its pay structure and options for NFL Sunday Ticket.

Fans have asked for single-team packages to defer some of the costs, as well as the ability to view games blacked out in specific areas and only available via streaming services.

This lawsuit could open up the door for a more expansive and versatile viewing package that caters more to the fans.
