WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A 60-year-old man previously indicted for allegedly trying to lure a boy into his truck has now been indicted for four counts of aggravated assault for allegedly trying to run over four men with his truck the same night.

Albert Edmonds is facing trial on four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in addition to his previous indictment of criminal solicitation of a minor with sexual contact.

Clay County standoff after car chase and foot pursuit

On the evening of April 15, witnesses reported hearing screaming and seeing a black male in a green pickup grab a boy and try to kiss him on Brook and Dayton. Bystanders intervened, took down the license number, and took photos of the truck as he fled.

Shortly after this, there was a report of a green pickup trying to run over people at Faith Mission at 1300 Travis.

One victim told officers the man got mad after asking for cigarettes, and he drove onto the sidewalk toward him and others, all of whom were able to jump out of the way.

Police reviewed surveillance video of the incident and matched the driver as the same suspect involved in the Brook incident.

The truck was later found on MLK Boulevard, and Edmonds was arrested.

Edmonds remains jailed on $67,000 in bonds. The district attorney filed for additional conditions if Edmonds is released on bond, including prohibiting Edmonds from any contact with minors or going to any places where children gather.

The district attorney’s office also made an undisclosed plea offer to Edmonds’s attorney on the solicitation charge, with an acceptance deadline of August 9, 2024.
