Former Cowboys WR Cole Beasley takes an unnecessary jab at CeeDee Lamb's preparation

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is no stranger to criticism after years of having all eyes on him as a former first-round draft pick of the most popular team in the NFL.

Even after a first-team All-Pro season in 2023, Lamb still faces judgement (many times, wrongly) when it comes to him showing up for big games, something just about every Cowboys player suffers from. Usually, such critiques are raised by fans and media members.

But on Friday, former Cowboys wide receiver Cole Beasley added himself to the list with an unnecessary jab to the star playmaker's preparation ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

Lamb, whose holdout is expected to continue into training camp as he seeks a deal similar to the league's highest-paid wide receiver Justin Jefferson , is working on his explosiveness as he awaits a new contract.

In response to a clip posted on Twitter/X of Lamb working at Alkeme Sports, Beasley chimed in on the drills saying "Man, just do some heavy squads and power cleans..."

You've got to give it to Beasley, he was an explosive and refined route runner during his 11-year career in the NFL, which even yielded second-team All-Pro honors in 2020 when he was with the Buffalo Bills. That's exactly what kept him in the league despite being way undersized.

But that's one thing and another very different thing is to attack the way a receiver at the top of the game like Lamb is doing for prep. Sports training has gone a long way and continues to do so and many athletes swear by these emerging type of methods.

And don't get me wrong, I know Beasley is known to stir things up on social media in all sorts of ways, but you've got to admit it's a weird look to take a jab at how Lamb is developing his game. Beasley admitted in a separate post was "more of a shot to these 'trainers,' I think Lamb is a baller."

But considering Beasley took the "Give me 180 targets off the couch and I eclipse 1000, stop looking at stats and check the tape" route when arguing with fans, he certainly didn't give the look he wanted to.

Ultimately, it's a part of social media. And not to sound like an old man yelling at clouds (I recently did a lot of that discussing NBC's use of A.I. ahead of the Olympics ), but I'm never a fan of former pro players chiming in with this kind of shots.
