Caitlin Clark Vaults Up WNBA Rankings in Key Statistical Category

Caitlin Clark now ranks second in WNBA assists per game.

On Saturday afternoon, Clark became the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double — notching 19 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds in an upset win over the New York Liberty.

Before that game, Clark ranked third in the league — trailing Alyssa Thomas and Natasha Cloud.

Clark currently stands alone with 7.4 assists per game, now trailing only Thomas (7.9).

If Clark continues at her recent pace, she'll pass Thomas for the No. 1 spot in no time.

The Indiana Fever's No. 1 overall pick has recorded double-digit assists in four of her last five games. In Saturday's win over the Liberty, she also surpassed Sue Bird as the rookie with the most points-assists double-doubles (4) in league history.

Thomas recorded nine assists the Connecticut Sun's most recent win over the Atlanta Dream.

Clark will look to continue her recent success in a matchup against the Washington Mystics on Wednesday.
