    Montgomery County Fair open now, here’s what to expect

    DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — As the ceremonial ribbon was cut on Sunday , the Montgomery County Fair began in earnest as attendees were treated to rodeos, tractor shows, amusement rides and more.

    This was just the opening act for the event though, as the festivities ramp up. Food lovers, in particular, will be in great care.

    “We have over 35 concessionaire, so you should have plenty of choices food wise. We have over 60 vendors. Some are selling items and some are commercial vendors,” said the county fair’s Executive Director Lori Page.

    Alongside the fun brimming from all of the festivities on-hand, festival coordinators and health agencies are stressing safety as well. From food safety to staying clear of too much sun.

    Tips for staying safe during summer festival season

    “If you’re getting headaches, you’re getting dizzy, it’s probably time to go in, get under the shade and drink some water,” said Clark County Emergency Management Director Michelle Clements-Pitstick.

    In the case of amusement park rides, attendees are advised to follow the instructions associated with them and to be mindful of what’s eaten beforehand. Children and pets should not be left unattended and hand-washing is encouraged as well.

    Those looking to attend between today and Saturday can do so between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. Admission prices vary depending on your time of entry.

    Guests who go before 4 p.m. can get into the fairgrounds for $10 while those who arrive after that will need to pay $15. Parking is included in each circumstance. Veterans, first responders and senior citizens get $5 off on Wednesday. Click here for more on ticket pricing.
