New York Giants Earn Miserable Prediction For 2024 NFL Season

The New York Giants are coming off of a rather rough 2023 campaign in which they went just 6-11, resulting in many believing they would move on from Daniel Jones at quarterback.

Instead, the Giants chose to select LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers with the sixth overall pick in the NFL Draft, buying Jones at least one more season under center in the Big Apple.

New York did make some other notable additions throughout the offseason, acquiring star edge rusher Brian Burns in a sign-and-trade with the Carolina Panthers and improving what had been a horrendous offensive line.

However, the Giants lost running back Saquon Barkley in free agency, and their roster is still lacking considerably as a whole.

That has left Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton to predict a last-place finish in the NFC East for Big Blue, projecting them to go a miserable 4-13 in 2024.

Moton specifically questions how New York will generate offense this coming season.

“Big Blue will need to muddy up games with its defense, which will be led by a star-studded front line featuring Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Dexter Lawrence II,” Moton wrote . “But unless the Giants plan to win several games by holding their opponents under 20 points, they will be the basement-dwelling team in the NFC East.”

Can the Giants rediscover what made them decent in 2022?

It may seem hard to recollect given how bad the Giants looked last year and all of the doomsday prognostications for them heading into 2024, but New York is just two seasons removed from making the playoffs and even winning a playoff game.

Jones put forth a solid showing in 2022, which led to the Duke product landing a four-year, $160 million extension with the G-Men that ensuing offseason.

The early returns on Jones’ deal have not been good, to say the least. He threw for two touchdowns and six interceptions before tearing his ACL after six games last season.

The Giants can ultimately get out of Jones’ deal after 2024, as the last two years of his contract are not guaranteed. But perhaps Jones can dig deep and relocate what made him effective a couple of seasons ago?

New York definitely lacks weaponry outside of Nabers, but a boosted offensive line and what should be a better defense could ultimately lead Big Blue to some surprising results come September.
