Caitlin Clark Shrugs Off Hit to the Face from Brittney Griner in Fever vs. Mercury

On Friday night, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever survived a late comeback by Kahleah Copper and the Phoenix Mercury and won by a final score of 95-86. The Fever were up by as many as 31 late in the third quarter, but the Mercury somehow pulled within four points.

Phoenix did all of this without stars Brittney Griner and Diana Taurasi. Griner played at the start of the game but had to leave due to a hip injury she suffered after colliding with Copper.

New footage from Griner's playing time has surfaced online that shows her accidentally smacking Clark in the face. The ref didn't call a foul, and the play went on.

Clark absorbed the hit from Griner and continued playing, but the hit impacted her enough that she bounced back a little bit.

The former Iowa Hawkeyes star ended the game with her fifth-straight double, recording 20 points and 13 assists.

The Fever moved to 10-14 on the season and now sit with the seventh seed in the WNBA Playoffs. The Mercury fell to 12-11, good for the sixth seed.
