Cameron Brink's Honest Assessment Of Breanna Stewart, A'ja Wilson Says It All

The WNBA has been going through some major changes since the arrival of the 2024 rookie class. These new players, including Cameron Brink, Caitlin Clark, and Angel Reese, have helped increase the attention the league gets from fans and the media.

Even the style of play in the WNBA is changing. Similar to how the NBA changed when Stephen Curry entered the league, the WNBA is seeing an increase in long-range shots , and that may continue to increase with Clark starting her career.

Even the WNBA's taller players are starting to evolve their game. Forwards such as Brink of the Los Angeles Sparks, A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces, and Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty have transcended women's basketball at their positions.

In an interview with Flaunt Magazine , Brink discussed how Wilson and Stewart have helped transform the gameplay at the forward position.

"I think a good example is Breanna Stewart or people like A’ja Wilson. Back in the day, a lot of taller players were kind of boxed into staying on the low block and doing what traditional posts would do," Brink said.

Both Wilson and Stewart have been getting away from the low block more often and taking more three-pointers in the latter half of their WNBA careers. Especially Wilson, who only attempted two three-point shots in her first four seasons compared to 148 attempts in her last three.

Brink continued, "And now, I take pride in this; as a taller, bigger post player, you kind of see a shift of us passing the ball more, ball handling, shooting, coming off of screens. So the game is really developing. People are becoming more versatile regardless of what their body types are."

Wilson and Stewart are two of the best WNBA players in the league. They have both won two MVP awards and two WNBA championships. Brink would be wise to look up to these two stars and model her game around theirs.
