At this point, it would be premature to say that Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark is the best player in the WNBA today. She might have established herself as the biggest name in women's basketball, but this does not necessarily mean that she's the top player out there—at least not yet.

One thing that cannot be denied, however, is Clark's clutch gene. She proved this during her iconic college career with Iowa, as she incredibly led the Hawkeyes to back-to-back national championship game appearances in her junior and senior years.

Now that she's in the pros, Clark has proven that she belongs. In fact, there is strong statistical evidence that she is currently the most clutch player in the league.

The fourth quarter is obviously the most important period in any game, and the fact that Clark leads the league in assists and is fifth in scoring in the final frame speaks volumes about her ability to step it up in crunch time.

A case in point is the 22-year-old's performance in the Fever's 81-74 win against the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday. Clark shot the ball poorly in the first three quarters before exploding for 10 points in the final frame.

She also added two assists, two rebounds, and a steal in the quarter to help Indiana outscore Minnesota 28-14 in the fourth.

At this point, it has become increasingly difficult to question Clark's (consistent) heroics down the stretch.
