TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Highway Patrol is looking to defend its title as the agency with the “best-looking cruiser” in a nationwide contest.

FHP’s entry is a nod to a vital Florida industry and an iconic fixture of the state’s history: space.

“Our submission this year is truly out of this world, with an aim to rocket past the competition!” FHP wrote in a news release.

The photo shows a FHP Dodge Challenger posed in front of the rocket as it lifts off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

“This year’s photo entry embodies Florida’s spirit of innovation and commitment to excellence, capturing iconic elements of our state. Space Florida is proud to support our state troopers in this competition and we hope to see Florida take home another victory,” Rob Long, President and CEO of Space Florida, said in a statement.

In the Best Looking Cruiser Contest, state law enforcement agencies are tasked with submitting a photo of their patrol vehicles that shows off their creativity and iconic elements of their state. For example, Illinois’ entry has the cruiser posed on Route 66 and Vermont’s photo shows an SUV under the total solar eclipse.
