    NTSB investigating after small plane crashes into water in Easton

    TALBOT COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating after a plane crashed in the water in Easton on Tuesday afternoon.

    Details are limited; however, Maryland State Police said around 9:30 a.m. a small plane crashed, near the 6800 block of Travelers Rest Circle in Talbot County. This is off of the Eastern Shore.

    In a statement to DC News Now, the FAA said a twin-engine Cessna 402 crashed after the pilot reported an engine failure. The pilot was the only person on board, according to officials.

    A report from FlightAware shows the plane departed from the Tipton Airport (FME) just before 9 a.m. The plane was scheduled to land at the Easton Airport (ESN).

    As of Tuesday afternoon, Maryland State troopers along with several agencies including the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office and United States Coast Guard, were on the scene.
