ROCHESTER, NH – The Spaulding High School cheer team, under the guidance of Head Coaches Katrina Taylor and Casey Dube and Assistant Coaches Joelle Boumel and Alicia Diamant, recently returned from a successful stint at the NCA Cheer camp held in Bangor last week. The team not only clinched second place in their division but also garnered awards for technical excellence, visual appeal, skill execution, and team spirit.

During the competitive camp, which draws teams from across the nation, seven Spaulding cheerleaders were nominated for the prestigious All-American title. These nominees included Analizia Santana, Jailyn Jacobs, Madison Crothers, Payton Boumel, Arianna Therrien, and Cameryn Boumel. Aislynn Boles, a standout team member, succeeded in earning the All-American title, recognized as one of the highest honors in cheerleading nationally.

The team’s remarkable performance has earned them an invitation to perform at the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando this December, one of the oldest college football bowl games in the United States. However, the participation is contingent on fundraising efforts as the event is not school-sponsored. Approximately 16 cheerleaders along with the coaching team need to raise the necessary funds by early October.

To support their journey to Orlando, several community fundraising initiatives have been planned:

    • A car wash event will be held on August 3rd and 4th at the Mobil Gas Station in Wakefield from 9 AM to 1 PM.
    • Bad Penny, a local venue, will host a donation bucket at an upcoming event, with details to be determined.
    • On August 6th, the team will set up a table at National Night Out in Rochester.
    • Tagging sessions will occur at various locations including the Shell gas station on Washington Street, Tractor Supply, and Lino’s Restaurant in Wakefield, among others.
    • Additional dinner fundraisers are also in the works.

Community support is crucial for the Spaulding cheer team to realize their goal of performing at the Citrus Bowl. Donations can be made payable to "SHS Spirit". The team and coaching staff are grateful for any contributions that will help make their trip to Orlando a reality.
