SEC college football personality Paul Finebaum joked that the last six months since Nick Saban retired from coaching college football have been the "worst of his life," but it hasn’t taken long for the two to reconnect at SEC media days. Finebaum’s first guest on Tuesday was someone he’s hosted several times as a coach, but this was Saban’s first time on the program as a member of the media.

Saban dominated the SEC and college football landscape as a whole for nearly two decades, and he’s dominated the spotlight just as long. Even though he’s no longer a college football coach, he claims he still feels like one. This became clear with his reaction after sitting across from Finebaum for the first time as a media member.

“I may’ve joined the media but I’m still a coach at heart,” Finebaum quoted Saban in a post on X.

Saban headlines the panel of analysts covering SEC media days for the SEC Network. The kickoff to the conference’s first college football season following the addition of the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooner continues through July 18.
