Who killed Herbert Polite? Charleston County detectives look for answers three years after deadly shooting

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Who killed Herbert Polite? Charleston County detectives are seeking tips three years after the 36-year-old was found shot to death behind his Hollywood home.

Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Salters Hill Road home on the night of July 17, 2021, after a citizen reported hearing multiple gunshots.

Herbert Martell Polite was found behind his home. Deputies said he had been shot multiple times and died at the scene.

The person responsible left the scene before authorities could arrive. And while officials say many have been interviewed , there are still no suspects.

The sheriff’s office asks that anyone with information about this case contact Detective Carl Muirheid by calling 843-554-2238.
