    Screven Co. Sheriff’s Office drains pond, searching for man missing since June 23

    SCREVEN COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – A search is on for a missing man in Screven County.

    44-year-old Kary Charles Prescott has been missing since the morning of Sunday, June 23 rd , 2024.

    On Saturday, July 13 th , 2024, Screven County Sheriff’s Office made public that, following leads in the case, they were actively searching the area around Kimwood Drive in Sylvania, GA, less than a mile from the Screven County School System’s main office – the search included the deployment of a search and rescue drone.

    The area around Kimwood Drive they were searching included a pond, the backside of the wooded area around Screven County High School, and the area around the railroad tracks that pass through downtown Sylvania.

    Wednesday morning, July 17 th , the Sheriff’s Office shared photos via social media that showed the pond in the search area along Kimwood Drive  – the pond had been drained in the search for information about  Prescott’s disappearance. Following the completion of this task, according to the post, the investigation will continue to move forward.

    Anyone with information in Prescott’s disappearance is asking to contact the Screven County Sheriff’s Office at (912) 564-2013 and the GBI Region 5 Office based out of Statesboro, GA, and available to take tips in the case at (912) 871-1121.
