    Kansas Governor announces $26m for road improvement projects

    KANSAS (KOAM) -- Governor Laura Kelly announces a combined $26 million to communities for road improvement projects throughout the state of Kansas.

    According to the Office of the Governor , the money will be awarded to 33 projects to improve intersections and roads through the Kansas Department of Transportation's City Connecting Link Improvement Plan.

    “This popular program makes it possible to improve the safety and accessibility of our local highways that are local centers of community life,” Governor Laura Kelly said . “Thanks to our increasingly solid financial footing at the state and federal levels, Kansas is finding ways to solve problems and bring resources to various regions of the state.”

    The Office of the Governor says as part of CCLIP, each city must contribute up to 25% of the project cost based on its population. Cities with a population under 2,500 aren't required to provide a match.

    3. Geometric Improvement

    “By investing with our local partners in our infrastructure framework, we are delivering economic opportunities across rural and urban parts of the state ,” said Secretary Calvin Reed . “These projects will address problems, so Kansans have more local transportation choices.”
