ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A softball player from Rowan County who became the first-ever athlete in the area to be named the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Player of the Year was honored this week.

Emma Clark recently graduated from West Rowan High School and will head to Tennessee in the fall.

She set multiple county records, was named All-State, and led her team to multiple state championships.

“Emma now heads to the University of Tennessee to continue her softball career. I know that she will excel. Congratulations, Emma, and may God bless you in your future endeavors,” shared Vice Chairman Jim Greene, Clark’s grandfather.

In addition to softball, Watson played volleyball and basketball.

She was honored during a Rowan County commissioners meeting on Monday and presented with a flag from the U.S. Capitol.
