The first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff has arrived. As the season approaches, fans are already eager to learn which teams have the best chance of making it.

Five teams are guaranteed a spot: the four Power Four conference champions and the highest-ranked Group of Five champion. Seven spots are up for grabs. The SEC has long been considered arguably the premier conference in college football, so there are lingering questions about how many teams from the conference will earn a spot in the CFP.

Paul Finebaum appeared on The Matt Barrie Show , stating that he believes four teams will make it from the SEC.

"I think probably the correct answer is four," Finebaum said. "It's not more than four. By the way, all of my friends are probably saying 14 or 16. I don't mean to blast my friends in the media; most of them don't know it's a convoluted system, Matt, as you've discussed. It's hard to get four."

Finebaum mentioned that he could also envision a scenario where three teams from the SEC make the College Football Playoff. However, ultimately, he feels that four teams will make it.

Barrie suggested that Georgia, Texas and Ole Miss will make it in, while Alabama, Missouri, and LSU will compete for the fourth spot. Only time will reveal how many teams will make the playoffs by the end of the season.
