Analyst Drops Major Hint About Bill Belichick’s Preferred Next Coaching Job

After NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported earlier this week that former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was “fully invested” in coaching again in 2025, many began to speculate about where he could ultimately end up.

While there are sure to be several head coach vacancies for Belichick to consider next offseason, Fox Sports Radio's Colin Cowherd recently disclosed on “The Herd” that sources have indicated to him there’s a short-list of teams that make sense for what Belichick is looking for.

“The Beli-check list, from what I’ve heard, are three teams — Philadelphia, Dallas and Buffalo,” Cowherd said . “I’ve heard two things about Belichick and I trust my sources on this. He would rather stay out East. He’s got his place in Nantucket, he golfs down in Jupiter, Florida — Bill doesn’t have any interest in moving everybody out West. The second thing: He would like the quarterback situation to be stable. The instability post-(Tom) Brady was his downfall.”

Dallas makes a lot of sense as a Belichick landing spot considering Mike McCarthy is in the final year of his contract, and unless he delivers an improbable run to the Super Bowl in 2024, owner Jerry Jones will likely want to shake things up at the top.

The Eagles nearly fired Nick Sirianni last season, and if they have another late-season meltdown or fail to make a deep playoff run, they too decide to pull the trigger on bringing in Belichick.

Buffalo seems like the least likely of the trio to make a coaching change, but Cowherd argues because they have just one AFC Championship appearance in the Josh Allen era, it could prompt them to switch things up so as to not waste any more of Allen’s prime years.

“The Buffalo one is really intriguing to me,” Cowherd added. “…I think Sean McDermott, without being on the hot seat, I think there is a sense you just can’t win the division again. It’s got to be more than that, you’ve got to have higher standards.”
