Pat McAfee Calls for Peyton Manning Involvement in New Olympic Sport

Peyton Manning has been hesitant to join the football coaching ranks. But he made it clear during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show Thursday that he wants to coach the United States flag football team in the 2028 Olympic Games.

Manning casted doubt over his candidacy because he has lost in flag football to his younger brother, Eli Manning, twice at the NFL Pro Bowl Games. However, host Pat McAfee was still ready to appoint him head coach.

"You're a guy, your rookie year, threw the most picks in history. You learn the game differently. You see it differently," argued McAfee.

"Congratulations to coach of the United States Flag Football team in the 2028 Olympics -- Peyton Manning. Put it on the ticker, that's awesome. That's so cool."

Manning then wondered if either Sean McVay or Kyle Shanahan would be more realistic candidates. McVay and Shanahan run two of the more innovative current offenses in the NFL.

But McAfee argued either would be great choices for offensive coordinator on Manning's coaching staff.

In October 2023, the International Olympic Committee officially added flag football as a sport for the 2028 Summer Olympics, which will take place in Los Angeles.

As Manning noted, it will be interested to see how many NFL players will be able to participate. The Summer Olympics typically take place during NFL training camp.
