Will the Dolphins offensive line be a question mark in 2024?

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: The Miami Dolphins’ offensive line is a big question mark heading into the season. That’s the assessment of CBS Sports’ NFL writer Jared Dubin, who recently took a look at the biggest areas of concern for each team heading into the 2024 season.

For the Miami Dolphins, it’s once again the offensive line. Miami had a good offensive line, when healthy, last season, but things fell apart towards the latter part of the year when injuries piled up and Miami simply didn’t have the depth at the position to sustain their early-season success. That could be the case again this year, as Dubin writes:

We know the deal with the Dolphins. When their line is fully healthy and playing well like it was early last season, the run game looks really good. But take one guy out with an injury -- which is a major, major concern, especially with Terron Armstead -- or have some of the talent issues crop up, and things begin to fall apart like they did late last season.

If you’re reading this as a long-time fan of the Dolphins, this is going to feel like a broken record at this point. Miami is notorious for offensive line struggles tanking otherwise good teams, going back to the days of Dan Marino. Lack of top-end talent and lack of depth have been consistent issues for years, and that issue didn’t get any better in the off-season with the departure of Robert Hunt to the Carolina Panthers.

It seems like everything is in place this season for the Dolphins to make a deep run in the playoffs. Their quarterback is the reigning passing yards leader. They have arguably the best wide receiver duo in the league with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Raheem Mostert led the league in rushing touchdowns last season and De'Von Achane gained 800 yards on a ridiculous 8.3 yards per attempt as the change-of-pace back last season. Yet as we’ve seen so many times in the past, it can all come crumbling down if the offensive line fails to hold up yet again.
