Since 2022, the WNBA and FanDuel have had a partnership. With the growing engagement the league is getting, the ‘W’ is making a move to expand its market. Industry operator DraftKings is entering the market as an official sports betting and daily fantasy partner of the WNBA. DraftKings CEO Jason Robbins went to social media on Thursday night to announce the big news. With the partnership, DraftKings will receive the rights to league and collective team IP. Additionally, they’ll have access to various marketing opportunities around the WNBA including the AT&T WNBA all-star game and other tentpole events. Finally, DraftKings will utilize official WNBA data to support gameplay for fans. DraftKings talent ambassador and WNBA legend Lisa Leslie had this to say about the partnership.

Having worked alongside both DraftKings and the WNBA, I am thrilled to see these innovative brands come together and further enhance excitement and visibility around women’s sports. The WNBA is rapidly expanding its reach and DraftKings has an unmatched ability to further generate additional fan engagement. I am looking forward to seeing DraftKings elevate the WNBA’s fan experience in the midst of this record-breaking season.” – Lisa Leslie

DraftKings is entering during the playoff push for the WNBA

This year, the WNBA is using a new content platform to feature league highlights, social integrations, and odds updates focused on the latest WNBA standings throughout the final two weeks of the regular season. It is called the “WNBA Postseason Push” and it’s presented by DraftKings. Stars around the WNBA like rookie PG Caitlin Clark are part of the reason why the league continues to gain more attention. Leadership around the WNBA is excited about this new partnership with DraftKings which they believe will continue to move their product in the right direction.

Caitlin Clark is not the only star that viewers tune in and come to games to see. The New York Liberty has some of the WNBA’s best talent in Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu. Out West, the Las Vegas Aces have two-time reigning DPOY Aj’a Wilson and all-star Kelsey Plum. This season, the WNBA has had 15 games draw at least one million viewers. That is already tied for the most in a season in league history. Rookie Angel Reesee for the Sky is another player who helps draw viewers to the WNBA. The partnership with DratKings will only help their league grow and become more successful.
